| | | Buy 3M Dual Lock 5/8-Inch by 10-Foot Low-Profile Reclosable Fastener, Clear #SJ-4570 from Amazon | | Simply put, this stuff is for affixing one thing temporarily to another thing. It consists of a single roll of two strands of fastening tape, each with a peel-back adhesive surface on one side and low-profile mushroom-shaped fasteners on the other. If you've used Velcro tape before, you get the idea-except that this stuff isn't Velcro. With 705 pins per square inch, it gives you four times the tensile strength of hook-and-loop fasteners, which means it will support more weight and do a better job at keeping things from moving around. Each strip is backed with 3M 300 LSE Laminating adhesive, which gives it an excellent bond to a variety of substrates (including polypropylene, polyethylene, metal, finished wood and many others).--Josh Dettweiler What's in the Box Ten feet of 5/8-inch-wide fastener |

| | | Buy Quakehold! TV Strap #4065 from Amazon | | You may have forgotten how heavy that TV is, and it would be a bad thing to be reminded of this during an earthquake. To prevent injury or-at the very least-a broken TV, Quakehold!'s TV strap lets you secure your TV to a stable surface or wall. If you want to move the TV to another room temporarily, unstrapping is easy thanks to the quick-release buckles. Installation is a matter of attaching the adjustable straps into a few buckles, then peeling off the adhesive backing so you can attach the buckles to a stable surface (you'll need to screw the buckle into a stud if you're attaching it to a wall). Seems like a small amount of work to do in order to avoid being squashed in an earthquake, doesn't it? Works with screens of up to 25 inches-for larger screens you'll need two kits.--Josh Dettweiler What's in the Box Adjustable straps, buckles |
